I got the Free $500 Gas Cards Today!

Would you look at that???????
I’ve been so discouraged since my hard drive failed on my other lappie. I’m pretty good with back-ups, but I was in the midst of several things that were not yet backed up.

I started this Free Gas Card Offer on August 30, 2008.

I did all the offers, in one afternoon.

Just prior to getting my Official Redemption Certificate, I had the pleasure of dealing with foreign customer service, in reference to The Easy Grant CD Scam. I did read all the fine print.
I just received a bank statement saying that I was refunded both promised refunds, from that productive fiasco. I also received the $50 bonus from Bank of America, for opening an account.

I learned about that Bank offer, from Money Saving Methods, too. I opened a fee-free checking account, online, with a $100 minimum deposit (per the offer, not the bank minimum opening deposit requirement) and used the money for a few of the online offers, for the gas cards, and just waited. That’s all I did for that easy $50.

Carrie posted receiving her gas cards the same day that I printed my redemption certificate, for mine.

On September 19, 2008, I mailed off the certificate, with delivery confirmation. I canceled the last of the offers, that day, too, because without my hard drive and my meticulous notes, I was worried that I’d only cost myself more, if I lost track of anything.
FedEx brought my gas cards today, November 1st.
$500 for a few hours of work, in 9 weeks.

THINGS I’VE LEARNED, that I’ll do different, for the next deal:
(Lessons from a crashed hard drive?)

  • I’ll print all fine print terms and details to pdf. (I printed everything, to paper, in my first offer. What a pile.)
  • I’ll post journal entry updates, to each online offer, in a private blog. (I had these notes and such in a digital file on my hard drive.)
  • I’ll upload the pdf’s to box.net and embed the files in the blog. (or I’ll use savefile and post the url.)
  • I’ll add a box.net url to my spreadsheet.
  • I’ll utilize paper calendar/planner to schedule cancel dates with customer service telephone numbers. (I did this digitally, on this first offer, and only had the customer service telephone numbers on my spreadsheet, that also crashed with the hard drive, and the paper print-outs. I called most customer service numbers, after the hard drive crash, blindly. They were extremely helpful, but I want to save myself that anxiety, in the future.)

If there is anything, that you do, differently, I’d love to know about it.
