Menu Planning Monday – 24 November 2008

a whole, raw red bell pepperImage via WikipediaHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours.. :)

I’m Thankful for all of you, that take time, from your day, to come read what I have to say.. I appreciate you.

Its technically Tuesday, now.. so that’s where I’ll start. :)

Your task, if you accept the challenge, is to craft two meals around Wasabi Bratwurst Caramelized Onions, waiting, for you, in my refrigerator. The camera did not do these any justice. I’m having some color change issues, to learn more about, with the camera. They do not look as dead as they appear, in real life.

While I’m at it, this is NOT the way to take Macro photos of onions, while they cook:

Tuesday –
Venison/Beef sloppy joes on Garlic toast made on Kaiser Rolls
Green Beans
Caramelized Onions

Wednesday –
Calzones with Heather’s Pizza Dough Recipe. Now that everyone, in my home, is perfectly capable of stretching their own dough, sans throwing it in the air, if I’m lucky.. we usually stuff our own, with whatever we have in mind. I have Ricotta, Mozarella, and Colby Cheddar Cheese. I have Pepperoni and Canadian Bacon. Oh, and I have caramelized onions!!

While the oven is hot, I’ll throw in my “Grandma’s Better than Pumpkin Pie Cake” for Stuff-your-face-and-wobble-around Thursday.

Thursday – (I am sadly omitting Turkey from this menu. It has everything to do with not everyone being able to eat it. Allergies suck.)
Ham baked slow, with brown sugar and orange juice.
Italian-cut Green Beans a-la-mom (garlic, basil, and lots of crushed black pepper)
Faux Mashed Potatoes
Jalapeno Cream Cheese Corn
Spinach Dip – in Bread Bowls for all day grazing
Grandma’s Better-Than-Pumpkin-Pie Cake

Friday –
Black-eyed Peas with Leftover ham
Split Pea Soup, with the ham bone, for those not too chicken to try it. 😉
Baked Potatoes
Corn Bread

Saturday –
Tonkatsu (Pork Cutlets) with Homemade Tonkatsu Sauce
Korroke (Japanese Potato Balls) with ground venison/beef, diced onion, grated carrot. Similar to this recipe.
Korroke sauce is 1/2 Tonkatsu sauce and 1/2 catsup
All will be served on a bed of lettuce, instead of cabbage.

Sunday – Leftovers
