Laundry Soap – A New Method to the Madness! :)

laundry soap on blender

I saw a couple of posts, around blog-land, where nifty wonderful bloggers, have figured out how to use a canning jar on their blenders.

Of course, this sent a little light bulb to go off in my head.

Maybe that little canning jar, that I already store my soap IN, can reduce the mess of getting out my large, but wonderful, food processor.

And it worked like a charm.

Until I let go of holding the jar. Two pulses and it spun that jar right off the lid, upside down..

what joy! :) LOL

So, hold tight to your jars!

I had the soap grates dried. I added them into the jar and pulsed to a fine powder. It all came together quickly.

My super washing soda and Borax had clumps in them, so I added it and then pulsed a couple more times..

Then the whole kitchen had powder, in the air, and in my lungs.

Not good. Don’t do it that way.

I was quickly reminded why I do this on the top of my washing machine.. when I had that little mess to clean up.

Recipe is easy. 2:1:1 Soap Powder: Borax (Sodium Borate): Super Washing Powder (Sodium Carbonate)

So, 1 cup soap powder (grate your soap, let it air dry a day or so, blend it, in the jar, on your blender into a powder.) 1/2 cup Borax. 1/2 cup Super Washing Powder (Or, 2 cups soap, 1 cup borax, 1 cup super washing soda.) You get it.

More detailed instructions here. The blender made this washing powder super fine. Its very nice. I like.
