Laundry Soap Nightmare

Making Laundry Soap

Last week, I turned my kitchen into a laundry soap factory, again..

Borax Issues
I decided to make a double batch.. I’ve been really busy and running out of laundry soap has happened, more than once, this year. I, also, thought I’d make one big mess and clean it up once.. for multi-batches.

My Borax was not properly contained, in my garage, and the humidity had made it really lumpy.

I hadn’t worried, much, about it, when I made the laundry soap, last time.. but I did notice that I was re-washing clothes, that had white powder marks on them.

So, I tried an experiment..

I sifted out some of the Borax Rocks and put them into a jar.

I tested it with cold and hot water.

The lumps do not dissolve.

My biggest dilemma, with this discovery, was I had finished mixing up my final laundry soap.

Two batches.

I had, previously, used my blender, and my storage jars, to avoid drying my soap (because I had run out..) but I found it to be a respiratory nightmare… so now I only whirl up the dried grated soap, itself.

I took the double batch, of soap, out back, and sifted it. There was about 1.5 cups of lumpy rocks, of all the products..

I zipped that, with the Magic Bullet, and all was well, again.

(The soap I grate, when I make laundry soap, is what dries, in open-air, for the next batch.)

Finished Laundry Soap
